The Old Jail Inn Parke County started in 2009, with the purchase of an 1879 flat steel, riveted door and frame in the basement of the abandoned jail. The door lead to the original Drunk Tank. The jail was transformed by Debra Olson in four months. It was a labor of love once the idea was conceived. The old jail is a destination getaway, with nine private cells turned into suites and guest rooms.
After a year of showing off the basement area , Debra decided to renovate, with only repurposed items and materials, and turned it into the “Drunk Tank Winery” The winery promotes it’s own Old Jail Inn Red blend. Write your name on the wall after your wine tasting and see the thousands of people who left messages of encouragement on their favorite wine selections. You will also find about 50 other wines to enjoy. Be sure to purchase a bottle of Old Jail Inn red wine as a souvenir.
It’s all about the DOOR at the Old Jail Inn.
Remember: “Come as guests, leave as friends.”
