Parke County in West Central Indiana is rich with a wide variety of wild-life. There is ample opportunity to observe and enjoy one of the fastest growing hobbies in the United States … wildlife viewing!
Parke County has long boasted large populations of white tail deer, turkey, and up-land game. However, the avid viewer has also been able to enjoy species such as the Great Blue Heron, Osprey, and Bald Eagle in growing numbers over the past several years.
Suddenly, we stop and ask, why are these creatures here? Where can we see them? What can we do to make sure they stay? Most of which can simply be answered, Parke County!
The diverse habitat of Parke County provides the four basic requirements for all creatures to survive: food, water, shelter and cover. By improving our existing habitat through sound agriculture practice, proper forest management, providing additional nesting sites, and incorporating an ample water source, we can insure the future of our wildlife populations.
