Covered Bridges Connect us to Our Past
Everyone can agree that the big fall event in this area - and to many around the world - is the Mansfield Village Covered Bridge Festival.
For 10 days, beginning the second Friday in October, this historic Indiana county is host to more than 2 million visitors who tour covered bridges, shop 'til they drop and dine on festival food.
The 31 covered bridges of Parke County are bridges to the past, and remind us of times long ago. Just as these bridges used to connect people from one place to another, today, they connect our past with our future.
Even with thousands of people milling around, it?s hard not to get nostalgic while looking at these icons of a simpler time. The covered bridges are organized on different routes, so be sure to pick up a Parke County Guide which has a detailed map inside of all the routes to the covered bridges - each in its own color -
and other landmarks of interest.
