Travel the back roads of Parke County and you will notice growing fields of produce among the pastoral scenes of verdant fields and grazing cattle. The farmers put a lot of effort into these crops and visitors are always impressed with the quality of the fruits and vegetables grown on this land.
The historic collection of covered bridges that punctuate the countryside are also a source of pride for those who call Parke County their home. These elegant structures have weathered the test of time and blend with the rolling hills to create unique scenes that have inspired poets and artists for years.
Passersby stumbling upon the Country Farmers Market often stop and linger for quite awhile, and it’s no wonder. How often do you find a large variety of breads, pies and baked goods along with pasture-fed chemical free and/or organic meats, cheese and eggs. Also available is frozen beef, pork chicken, lamb and buffalo; hot dogs, bologna, bacon, and hams are always a specialty.

The Mansfield Village celebration of the Covered Bridge Festival is unlike nowhere else in the county. As hundreds of thousands of 
visitors gather in October every year in Parke County, Indiana, the Mansfield Covered Bridge stands out as one of the most visited. Built in 1867, this bridge is 247 feet long and was built by J. J. Daniels to cross Big Raccoon Creek. It is an icon that continues to remind us of a simpler time.

Observe master carvers in woodworking demonstrations and witness skilled artisans practicing their craft at the Mansfield Village Woodworkers & Whittler's Festival.
This festival, held the first weekend following the July 4th holiday, takes us back to a historic time, when woodworkers and whittlers transformed raw materials into beautiful and unique art and supplies. Artisans from throughout the Midwest gather to practice their woodworking art, whether it's creating small keychains or large yard statues.
Mansfield Village Covered Bridge Bluegrass Festival
June 6-8, 2008 • 9 am - 5 pm
That's music: Bluegrass music lovers enjoy a full day of pickin? and fiddle playing on the main stage at Hilltop Farm in Mansfield Village.
Stars and amateurs perform at the Bluegrass Festival.
